Mukovha Seventh-day Adventist Church is a young, warm congregation in Mukovhawabale village, Vhembe, Limpopo. We are a company of believers growing under the care of our mother church, Maheni SDA, within Zone B of the Vhembe East District of the Trans-Orange Conference.
In the Adventist family a company is a congregation that is still being planted: we worship, study and serve together every week, and with God’s blessing, our own church building and a growing membership, we look forward to being organised as a full church. Until then Maheni SDA walks with us, and we are grateful for their care.
We worship in Tshivenda and English. Our Sabbaths are simple and joyful: Sabbath School lesson study led by our elders, a Divine Service with preaching from members and visiting pastors, and afternoon programmes led by the youth, Pathfinders and Adventurers. During the week we meet in one another’s homes to pray — thabelo ya vhukati ha vhege — and on Friday evenings we open the Sabbath together.
What we believe
Seventh-day Adventists are Christians who take the Bible as the Word of God and look forward to the soon return of Jesus. We keep the seventh-day Sabbath (Saturday) as a day of rest and worship, care for our bodies as God’s temple, and share the good news of Jesus in our community.
- The Bible — our only rule of faith and practice.
- Jesus Christ — our Saviour, our High Priest, and our soon-coming King.
- The Sabbath — a weekly gift of rest from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset.
- Wholeness — health, family and service as part of worship.
- Hope — the second coming of Jesus and the promise of a new earth.

The people who lead us
A company is led by a church leader chosen from among the members, who carries the day-to-day life of the congregation: the Sabbath programme, the midweek prayers, the building project and the care of every family. Our pastor comes to us as a missionary, sent to nurture a new congregation, and preaches, baptises and trains our leaders alongside the district pastors.
Mukovha SDA is a company of the Vhembe East District, growing under Maheni SDA as our mother church.
They are supported by our elders and by departmental leaders for Sabbath School, Youth & Pathfinders, Adventurers, Women’s Ministries, Health and Communication. Names and numbers are listed with permission; please let us know of any corrections.
